Heidi Vega, Communications and Community Engagement Director in the Deer Valley Unified School District, accepted a position with the Arizona School Boards Association as their Director of Communications. Her last day with Deer Valley is September 30.

Ms. Vega has been with the District for seven years and serves as a member of the Superintendent’s Executive Cabinet Team. She oversees the District’s internal and external communications, marketing, business partner relations, special events, elections, crisis communications and Parent/Community Involvement programs.

She was recognized as the Southwest Region 2014-15 National School Public Relations Association (NASPRA) Front-Runner. This distinction is given annually to four individuals doing outstanding work in their district/agency/chapter with each representing a different NSPRA Region.

She received the first annual NSPRA “35 Under 35” award recognition for leaders under the age of 35 demonstrating excellence in the school communication profession and was nominated for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 2013 Woman of the Year Award.

Ms. Vega served as the Arizona School Public Relations Association Vice President for Programs and is active throughout the community. She is a nationally recognized professional and exemplifies a true advocate for public education.
