One of the most common questions I’ve been asked during quarantine is “Are homes still selling?” The answer is “Yes!” The graph below shows the weekly trend of home sales for the greater Phoenix area. You can see that we hit bottom on April 5 with only 1,641 homes being sold that week, but we’ve had steady and consistent improvement of sales every week since then. As we went to print on this edition we aren’t quite back up to our pre-pandemic sales numbers, but we’re getting close. Our 2020 results are still lagging behind 2019 sales results and our overall spring selling season was well below what is typical, but considering we missed out on a lot of relocation and vacation home buyers, it’s excellent to see the positive trend.

We’re also seeing signs that relocation buyers are starting to make plans to move this summer, instead of their original spring plans. We may also see more vacation
home buyer clientele this summer, as some have decided to simply postpone their plans. We’re hearing from many that they’re ready for a change of scenery and they are opting for a vacation here this summer. After all, we are a great road trip destination, especially from California or Colorado (two of the top states for relocation into Arizona).

If you’re considering selling your home, now remains a good time. Our inventory remains low and overall demand is outpacing supply. If you have questions about your home value, please give us a call at 480-266-8785.
