In the fall of 2019, the Paradise Valley Unified School District announced plans to build Elementary School #33 in the Sky Crossing community.ES #33 will open in 2021-22. In January 2020, the district’s Boundary Committee met three times to develop new boundaries to accommodate ES #33. The committee’s recommendations affect boundaries to Boulder Creek Elementary, Fireside Elementary, Wildfire Elementary, Grayhawk Elementary, Pinnacle Peak Preparatory, Explorer Middle, and Mountain Trail Middle schools.

In order to effectively communicate the boundary changes and to garner feedback from stakeholders, community meetings will be held on August 25 and August 27, 2020. In accordance with CDC guidelines regarding large gatherings, these meetings will be held online with an opportunity for stakeholders to make public comments and ask questions.

The next steps in the process include:
• Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 6:30 p.m. – Public meeting (held virtually*)
• Thursday, Aug. 27 at 6:30 p.m. – Public Meeting (held virtually*)
• Thursday, Sept. 3 – Anticipated Governing Board vote on the boundary change

*Although there will not be a physical location for members of the public to attend these meetings, they may join the meeting via YouTube, WebEx teleconference or phone. Detailed meeting information can be found on the district website at www.pvschools.net/ES33.

If the Governing Board votes in favor of the boundary change, the change will take effect for the 2021-22 school year.
