The Scottsdale International Film Festival (the Festival), an annual event that connects audiences with award-winning cinema from around the globe, will be held Friday, November 6 through Tuesday, November 10. This year’s festival will be virtual, giving moviegoers the opportunity to travel the world and enjoy cinema from the comfort and safety of their own homes.

“Going virtual for our 2020 festival was not our original plan to celebrate our 20th anniversary, but the safety of our guests and the uncertainty of our world has made this an easy choice,” says Executive Director Amy Ettinger. “We’ve taken this opportunity to create a uniquely personalized film festival that not only lets you choose the films but now lets you choose when you want to watch them.”
Using innovative technologies, the virtual festival allows participants to easily build a customized schedule and offers them the opportunity to see every film on the roster.

This year’s line-up will continue the quality schedule of films and programming festivalgoers have come to expect from the Festival. The virtual film festival will showcase 20 to 25 films from a variety of countries, originating from both first-time and seasoned filmmakers. The Festival encourages all attendees to bring their critical thinking skills and appreciation for the arts so they can immerse themselves into the world of cinema. With a selection of comedies, dramas, documentaries, thrillers and more, audiences will be sure to find their niche watching one, several, or all of the films in the festival schedule, according to the Festival. The Festival’s programming details will be announced on Monday, October 5.

Founded in 2001, Scottsdale International Film Festival is an annual destination event that celebrates humanity by sharing stories from diverse world filmmakers with admirers of domestic and foreign cinema in our community, sparking conversations that inform, educate and resonate with viewers, according to the organization. During its 20-year history, the Festival has presented more than 700 films – ranging from major Academy Award winners to undiscovered indie gems – to more than 100,000 attendees.
