The Board of the Black Canyon City Chamber of Commerce will be presenting its seventh annual “Wine, Cheese, and Pie” fundraising event on Saturday, October 18th, 2014. This is the sixth year in a row that the event will be held at Historic Rock Springs Café with all events outdoors in their remodeled Garden Patio at the base of the beautiful Bradshaw Mountains. The event is held to raise funds for the non-profit organization and the majority of the funds are utilized to maintain the Visitors Center at Harmil Plaza and in donating back to the community.

The event is from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm and includes a silent auction from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, casino gambling with the local famous AZ Duude from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and DJ and dancing under the stars in the cool evening until 10:00 pm with Fenton Parker of Parker Entertainment. The cost is $15 per person if purchased before the day of the event directly from the Chamber website, the visitor Center or a Board Member, or $20 at the door. A table of eight can be purchased for $100 (in advance only). The price includes three glasses of various wines and $500 in “poker chips” for gambling. A grand prize of an hour scenic plane ride from Deer Valley Airport, donated by Jireh Communications, will be given to the gambler with the highest winnings. There will be light appetizers served such as cheese, crackers, fruit, nuts and chocolate and the pie served that evening will be donated by historic Rock Springs Café; a long time member of the chamber. Rock Springs will have their outdoor bar open and will also serve a BBQ sandwich and sides for those who prefer other options.

The board is asking that support be given to all the GOLD sponsors who helped make this event happen. Without sponsors supporting events such as these in smaller communities, events such as this could not happen. All sponsors are either in BCC or do business in BCC. They are Rock Springs Café, Sanders Ranch Supply, PostNet of Anthem, Deer Valley Times, Peoples Mortgage, Rock Springs Café, Dobson Exterminating, US Health Advisors, Black Canyon Bullet and National Automotive Repair.

A last minute addition to the event is a book signing with Sylvia Nobel, author of the made into movie thriller, Deadly Sanctuary. The majority of the movie was filmed in BCC, which was turned into the fictitious “Castle Valley, Arizona”. Well known actors such as Dean Cain, Eric Roberts, Daniel Baldwin and local gal Bonni Jeen Olsen were seen filming in BCC in May.
