Gather with family, friends and neighbors to get into the Christmas spirit with North Valley Symphony Orchestra! NVSO spreads holiday cheer to the Phoenix North Valley community with evening and matinee performances of “Christmas Pops”, Saturday, December 14, 7:00 pm and Sunday, December 15, 3:00 pm at Shadow Mountain High School Performing Arts Center, 2902 E Shea Blvd, Phoenix, AZ 85028.
The concert will feature many audience favorites, including kid friendly pieces such as A Charlie Brown Christmas, a suite from the movie Elf, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The audience will even be invited to “play-along” on miniature bells to Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, and “sing-along” to a collection of Christmas carols. NVSO is especially excited to present ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas in collaboration with Brevity Theatre. The piece was composed by Randoll Bass and features the full poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas” by Clement Moore, which will be performed by actor Daniel Flavin, from the theater troupe.
Daniel has been involved in community theater for fifteen years and is passionate about using the performing arts to bring communities together. While in college, he sang in a men’s choir which performed Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He organized reader’s theater events before starting a non-profit called Brevity Art, which has now produced twelve plays and two concerts. With Brevity, Daniel has acted in Cyrano de Bergerac and The Curious Savage, and directed Much Ado About Nothing, The Importance of Being Earnest, King Lear, and All My Sons.
Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and enjoy free photo opportunities with Pete Schulte from Lucky Dog Images before the concert and during intermission.
NVSO proudly provides affordable concert experiences to the Phoenix North Valley community. Ticket prices are $5.00 each concert, and children five and under are always free. Purchase tickets at the NVSO website, www.northvalleysymphony.org, or by calling 623-980-4628.
