Cultural and musical traditions from around the world are coming to Peoria
International music and dance, called Global Sounds, are scheduled January through June and will feature Japanese drumming, belly dancing, and more.
“We are thrilled to introduce our new entertainment series featuring a diverse mix of cultural music and dance,” says Arts, Culture, and Library Services Director Marylou Stephens. “We invite everyone to come enjoy these performances – free of charge – at our beautiful Center for the Performing Arts in Old Town.”
The series will take place inside the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts, 10580 N. 83rd Dr. Doors open at 6 p.m., performances begin at 7 p.m., and shows are 80-minutes long, with a 15-minute intermission. Light snacks and alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.

• Feb. 1: Fushicho Daiko – Japanese Taiko Drumming
• March: Swaying in the Moonlight – Arabic Music & Dance
• April 19: Kawambe – African Drumming
• May 10: Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra – Afrobeat Music
• June 14: Walt Richardson – Caribbean Reggae Music
