The “Original” Our Gang Pizza quietly opened Jan. 17 but is quickly generating attention via community word of mouth. Conceived by brothers Dino and Robert Brescia, the OG, as locals have fondly started to refer to this new spot, offers a pizza-focused menu and two salads––a dinner salad and caprese salad.
Create your own pizza or select a delectable option like the pizza margherita, grilled lemon pepper chicken pizza, Lani’s Spicy Hawaiian, or NY White Pizza. The former owners of Our Gang Café, which they operated for 25 years, are taking a chance with a bare-bones concept that focuses on what they do best––make pizza.
The Brescia’s approach is “A little bit old school,” as Dino explains. The OG offers takeout only but does have a few seats outside where Dino and his brother enjoy chatting with customers over a slice. “We use the best products. The best cheese. The best flour. And we hand cut our veggies daily,” he explains.
To keep costs down, there’s no delivery. And don’t expect wine or beer, although they do have bottled sodas available. Only cash is accepted, but an ATM machine is onsite if you’re light on currency. This allows the brothers to provide quality food at a reasonable price.
Both brothers live only four blocks away from their fresh endeavor, and they like it that way. It allows them to be hands on and offers a direct connection to the community they call home.
Located at 10210 N 32nd St, A-1, Phoenix, the OG is open Tuesday through Saturday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. There’s no website, but you can call 602-787-4992 for more information.
