On August 12, Someburros, a cherished family-run chain renowned for its authentic Sonoran-style Mexican food since 1986, introduced its distinct flavors to the residents of Peoria with its 14th Arizona establishment. Nestled at the Northeast corner of 83rd Avenue and Thunderbird Road, this marks the brand’s inaugural venture in Peoria.
To commemorate the grand opening, Someburros held a vibrant celebration for the Peoria community with entertainment, a live mariachi band, and a bevy of surprises. Patrons also received gift card giveaways, piñata prizes, and an appearance by Someburros’ beloved mascot, Nacho, the burro.
Born from the culinary legacy of the Vasquez family, Someburros debuted in Tempe in 1986. Since its inception, it has consistently offered quality Sonoran-style Mexican cuisine lovingly prepared from time-tested family recipes.
The new Peoria location reflects this lineage, promising dishes crafted with quality ingredients.
The expansive menu boasts items ranging from the quintessential tacos, tostadas, and enchiladas, to burros. The pollo fundido stands out as a crowd-favorite, along with the timeless red and green chili beef. Someburros’ frozen margaritas, available for both dine-in and takeout, are also anticipated to be a hit.

Designed with the diner in mind, the new Peoria outlet features both a walk-up counter for in-house and takeout orders and a drive-thru for on-the-go convenience. Inside, guests will find a spacious 1,500 square-foot dining area complemented by a 400 square-foot outdoor patio. Marrying modern desert living with Spanish-revival aesthetics, the ambience is perfect for diverse occasions. Adding a touch of local flair, a hand-painted Dia De Los Muertos mural by Isaac Caruso graces the establishment, showcasing Nacho.
From its humble beginnings in Tempe, Someburros has spread its culinary magic throughout the Valley, from Gilbert to Goodyear, and now to Peoria.
Upcoming 2023 additions include outlets in San Tan Valley and Norterra, in North Phoenix.
