HI, MY NAME IS… Dr. Josh Baldwin.
I’VE LIVED IN THE DESERT RIDGE AREA ON AND OFF SINCE 2010 AND I LOVE IT BECAUSE… as a native to the Midwest, the winters can be quite long and boring. There’s only so much snow one man can shovel in a lifetime. Also, I’m inspired by being around a large concentration of highly motivated, intelligent, health conscious individuals.
A TYPICAL DAY IN MY LIFE INCLUDES… keeping things as simple as possible. A disciplined routine ensures that I stay focused on my goals and avoid getting caught up in unnecessary distractions. Hiking Camelback, going to the gym, yoga, and walking my dog are the little things I enjoy the most.
MY FAMILY IS… my rock in the storm of life. They have always been there for me, even when times get tough. I am so grateful for my parents, sister, brother-in-law, and number-one nephew, Decker!
ONE THING I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IS… purpose. I need to stay focused on my goals and how I will achieve them. Otherwise, I feel like a ticking time bomb just waiting to implode on his own energy.
WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WANTED TO BE… like the Karate Kid. I wanted to take out bullies with my crane kick and catch flies with chopsticks.
THE SONG I WOULD SING AT KARAOKE NIGHT IS… Incubus’s “Wish You Were Here.” “I dig my toes into the sand. The ocean looks like a thousand diamonds strewn across a blue blanket. I lean against the wind, pretend that I am weightless. And in this moment, I am happy, happy…”
THE ONE PERSON WHO MOTIVATES ME IS… Jordan Peterson. I’ve never met him or seen him in person, and yet I’ve watched countless videos of his lectures online. This man has helped me through many difficult situations where nobody else seemed to have the answers.
THE LAST THING THAT MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD WAS… my dog, Bossy. Yes, he really does think he’s the boss. When I tell him “no” he responds without fail by placing his head down, and his rear up in the air to remind me of who’s really in charge. Dogs truly are man’s best friend!
THE PERFECT DAY IS… working as a chiropractor at The Joint in Desert Ridge is a dream come true. Every day, I am filled with gratitude and a sense of fortune to be surrounded by incredible individuals like Brandon and Erica Berl. They are not just bosses, but mentors who create an environment where excellence thrives. The backbone of our team, Dee and Effie, our wellness coordinators, are rockstars in patient care, bringing their invaluable experience and genuine care to every interaction. And treating patients alongside the exceptional Dr. Howey and Dr. Clarke is inspiring. Their dedication to providing the highest level of chiropractic care motivates me to bring forth my best effort and attitude each day. When our team operates at full throttle, the energy and buzz we create are palpable, making every day at The Joint in Desert Ridge a truly perfect experience.
MY FAVORITE LOCAL NONPROFIT IS… I’ve been very fortunate to be a part of raising and donating millions of pounds of food to the United Food Bank of Arizona for over a decade.
MY LIFE IS… simple, now, only because of how much I over complicated things in my past.
THE BEST GIFT I’VE EVER RECEIVED WAS… winning a Three-Card Poker Jackpot at Talking Stick Casino. I didn’t know it at the time, but winning that jackpot allowed me the opportunity to remove myself from an impossible situation so that I could continue sharing my God given ability to serve others as a chiropractor and remain their source of relief from their back and joint pain.
MY DREAM VACATION WOULD BE… anywhere near the ocean. The ocean is a symphony of serenity and my number one “therapist,” a place where time seems to slow down, and my soul can finally breathe.
THE BEST PIECES OF ADVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED ARE… “Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.” “An antidote to post traumatic stress is voluntary suffering. Voluntary exposure to that which freezes and terrifies you, in measured proportions, is curative in nature.” “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” And, “Give evil nothing to oppose and it will disappear by itself.”
