HI, MY NAME IS… Randy Bailin.

MY OCCUPATION IS… client relations manager and roofing specialist at United Contracting Group (unitedcontractinggroup.com), a residential and commercial roofing/construction company with an unwavering dedication to quality that has the distinction of being an Owens Corning Roofing Platinum Preferred Contractor. The distinction, awarded by the global building and construction materials leader, is only given to the top tier of roof specialists in the country after meeting strict standards for professionalism, reliability, and unparalleled craftsmanship.

I’VE LIVED IN NORTH PHOENIX FOR 20 YEARS, AND I LOVE IT BECAUSE… it is close to my hometown of Scottsdale and provides direct access to virtually anywhere in the Valley. It is also close to my family, and most of my friends. Being in North Phoenix allows me the ability to have the work life balance I need for a high quality of life.

A TYPICAL DAY IN MY LIFE INCLUDES… waking up at about 4 a.m. and checking in with insurance companies to ensure clients are being treated fairly and in a timely manner. Then it is off to the field from about 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., which for our team at United Contracting Group can mean appointments virtually anywhere in Maricopa County and statewide during monsoon season. The way that the sun – and wind – beat down on roofs in Arizona is unlike nearly anywhere else. At 5 p.m. or so, you can most often find me stopping by my mom’s to see if she has anything that I can help her with. After checking on mom, I’m headed to the gym, followed by responding to emails while I have dinner.

MY FAMILY IS… a group of people who are comedians, philosophers, and just good American people. We work hard, enjoy one another, and make light of every situation we can.
ONE THING I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IS… other than my ladder (given my job), family, and friends…and definitely UberEats.

MY FAVORITE MOVIE I COULD NEVER GET TIRED OF WATCHING AND WHY IS… “Stepbrothers,” which is the obvious answer for any guy under the age of 45!

WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WANTED TO BE… my father. I wanted to grow up to be my dad so badly that I even dressed up as him for Halloween – more than once.

THE SONG I WOULD SING AT KARAOKE NIGHT IS… anything by Boyz II Men released between 1991 and 2001.

THE ONE PERSON WHO MOTIVATES ME IS… my dad, who passed away when I was just 16 years old. But his lessons and legacy endure, and he is constantly in the back of my mind helping to push me forward both in my career and my life. Also, my uncle Mark, who is a pillar of strength and has such pride in his family as well as an absolutely brilliant business mind.

THE LAST THING THAT MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD WAS… taking my nieces on a three-hour quest to find prairie dogs. I have no idea how those little girls braved the Arizona heat for that long, but every cool uncle knows that we cannot just throw in the towel, so I stayed with them step for step.

THE PERFECT DAY IS… a few games of euchre with my mom and sisters over brunch followed by pool time with my nieces, dinner out with friends at one of our favorite local haunts in Bourbon Steak, Course, Ocean Club, Uchi, Pyro, or Dominick’s, capped off with a relaxing night of binge-watching a few shows.

MY FAVORITE LOCAL NONPROFIT IS… I am a huge supporter of any and all kitten and cat rescues. In addition, our team at United Contracting Group are huge supporters of the American Legion, and we work on our own on a program where we gift free roofs to deserving families who would not otherwise afford it at least once a year.

MY LIFE IS… a story that is full of edits and changes but trust me when I say it’s a good read.

THE BEST GIFT I’VE EVER RECEIVED WAS… sobriety. Thanks to my family I am here today, and life is better than it has ever been.

MY DREAM VACATION WOULD BE… to an island full of kittens! Or New Zealand, with kittens.

THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED IS… America isn’t a country that allows you to succeed; it allows you to fail until you figure it out.
