HI, MY NAME IS… Alison Walsh

I’VE LIVED IN DESERT RIDGE FOR 11 YEARS AND I LOVE IT BECAUSE… of the conveniences of so many amazing hiking and biking trails at Reach 11, shops and restaurants, activities for the family like the Musical Instrument Museum and it’s also convenient to get to Scottsdale, which is where I was born and raised. I love the restaurants on High Street and visit Humble Bistro more than I care to admit.

A TYPICAL DAY IN MY LIFE INCLUDES… shuttling my two boys to school and all of their activities like flag football and the ninja gym. I work for a local public relations agency, so I tend to have a lot of calls, events, media interviews and in-person meetings throughout the day as well. My husband and I also love walking our two Olde English Bulldogges, Biscuit and Waffles, around the neighborhood.

MY FAMILY IS… my everything. I’m so lucky to have a husband who loves to cook, two healthy and rambunctious elementary school-aged sons, and both my mom, my in-laws, my sister and my sister-in-law all live nearby. We spend a lot of time together. There are six children all under the age of 12 and it’s the best kind of chaos.

ONE THING I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IS… my phone. I’m running around town all day, and I can check email on the go! I also take way too many photos of my kids and my dogs.

MY FAVORITE MOVIE I COULD NEVER GET TIRED OF WATCHING AND WHY… “Home Alone”. It’s just such a classic and I miss the ‘90s era of movie production, when things were more innocent. And John Hughes was simply the best!

WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WANTED TO BE… A Chicago Cubs baseball player. I guess that wasn’t in the cards for me, but public relations is a pretty fun second choice.

THE SONG I WOULD SING AT KARAOKE NIGHT IS… Nobody should be punished with having to endure my singing, but “Friends in Low Places” by Garth Brooks is definitely my favorite.

THE ONE PERSON WHO MOTIVATES ME IS… my mom. She worked very hard when my sister and I were young to provide us with so many opportunities to play sports, attend private school and she and my dad were the most supportive parents I could imagine having. The memories of our annual beach vacation in San Diego will be with me forever.

THE LAST THING THAT MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD WAS… an Instagram reel from one my favorite parenting influencers. Go check out @bigtimeadulting for a good laugh, especially if you’re a mom.

THE PERFECT DAY IS… March in Arizona, sitting outside at a Spring Training baseball game – especially if it’s the Chicago Cubs!

MY FAVORITE LOCAL NONPROFIT IS… Maggie’s Place. They are a wonderful resource for pregnant moms in need. They’re currently in need of Halloween costumes and they can always use diapers, of course!

MY LIFE IS… a gift. I try to remember that every day, and to help others when I can – with my hands and with my wallet. Giving to others in need brings me joy and I want my sons to see that too. They love volunteering at Feed My Starving Children and that makes me really happy.

THE BEST GIFT I’VE EVER RECEIVED WAS… That’s a tough one to answer! I would say a very special trip. Memories made on vacation with the people you care about the most are priceless.

MY DREAM VACATION WOULD BE… The Maldives. I dream of staying in an over-the-water bungalow.

THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED IS… Good things come to those who aren’t afraid to try. (Not to those who wait). There will never be the “perfect” time to do something. You just have to make it happen.
