HI, MY NAME IS… Jason Monczka.

MY OCCUPATION IS… Head Honcho, Jr. at PomeroyGroup Insurance and co-founder of Keymakers.org

I’VE LIVED IN Scottsdale cumulatively almost 28 years AND I LOVE IT BECAUSE… I’ve built my network and a phenomenal community here, not to mention my two daughters, who were both born and raised in Scottsdale.

A TYPICAL DAY IN MY LIFE INCLUDES… My days are everything, except typical! I’m passionate about (good) people, which has allowed me to create an incredibly vast and influential network that keeps me constantly busy with events and such with some of the most amazing people in Arizona!
MY FAMILY IS… I have three main priorities in my life, and my daughters have been, and always will be my number one priority!

ONE THING I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IS… I’m not sure; I’ve never tried living without something that’s important to me. Frankly, why would I?

MY FAVORITE MOVIE I COULD NEVER GET TIRED OF WATCHING AND WHY… This answer would entail me writing a novel, which I’m sure your readers wouldn’t appreciate. There are so many amazing movies that I lean on for great life references, not the least of which is “Step Brothers.” My daughters have watched that movie with me countless times and the endless laughter from the lines in that movie are simply priceless! And hysterical, especially when we reference those lines unexpectedly in our everyday conversations!

WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WANTED TO BE… I actually only wanted to be a homebuilder when I was younger. Throughout my career I have built / been responsible for building over 2,000 single-family homes. I was born into that career path and with the help and support of my dad, and I built my first home while still in high school at the age of 17. I strongly believe that kids today are not given real responsibilities by their parents at a young age, which is working completely against both young adults and their parents in today’s times. I could talk passionately about this topic for hours and hours.

THE SONG I WOULD SING AT KARAOKE NIGHT IS… “Simple Man,” of course!
THE ONE PERSON WHO MOTIVATES ME IS… Myself. I believe we all need to find what motivates us individually. A good part of my motivation is wanting my daughters to always look up to me, and come to me for advice and guidance. Keeping those kind of thoughts “front and center” in my mind certainly helps keep me motivated, especially with my moral compass.

THE LAST THING THAT MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD WAS… I laugh a LOT! Laughing is one of the best things in life, and it’s both free and priceless! Taking my youngest daughter to dinner for her 19th birthday was two hours of non-stop laughing. I had the gift to always make my dad laugh, and my daughter has this same gift with me!

THE PERFECT DAY IS… If I’m not working or entertaining clients for work, I thoroughly enjoy taking my daughters to dinner or doing absolutely nothing. Or when I have the rare time, cooking all afternoon on a Sunday, along with some reading and/or a movie, and hopefully some wine and great company. That would be an almost perfect day in my book.

MY FAVORITE LOCAL NONPROFIT IS… I serve on the Board of the Colten Cowell Foundation, and it’s both amazing and humbling, all at the same time.

MY LIFE IS… Here is a quote that came to be a long time ago, after I went through a divorce and it’s more or less insight into how I think about my life:

“Life is a puzzle, however it is your vision of that puzzle that makes life so great. Sometimes the pieces are all there. Sometimes the pieces are missing and you need to do your best to put the pieces that you have together. Those pieces may be bent, crooked, broken or may be the wrong pieces altogether, however as long as you try, and “never give up… don’t ever give up” then one day that puzzle, your vision comes together. Maybe not in the way you saw it in the beginning, however in a more beautiful, authentic way. Because it is yours, AND ONLY YOURS.

THE BEST GIFT I’VE EVER RECEIVED WAS… Someone’s time. Nothing in the world is more valuable than the time someone genuinely wants to give you.

MY DREAM VACATION WOULD BE… I’ve taken a lot of “dream vacations” throughout my life. I’m currently planning a culinary trip to Paris and an architectural trip to Scotland, both in 2025.

THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED IS… Just figure it out! That type of advice is seriously missing in today’s youth and young adults!
