The opening of Barrio Brewing Co. at Phoenix Deer Valley Airport marks a significant addition to the area’s culinary scene. Located at 702 W. Deer Valley Rd., this new establishment, under the Kind Hospitality umbrella, promises to be a destination for travelers and a dining mainstay for the surrounding community.
“We are extremely excited to bring Barrio Brewing Co. to the Deer Valley Airport travelers and the surrounding neighborhood and community,” says Nava Singam, owner and CEO of Kind Hospitality, which became a licensee of the Barrio Brewing Co. brand in 2016 and opened a location at Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport in 2017.
Since its beginnings in 1991 as Gentle Bens in Tucson, Barrio Brewing Co. has become a hallmark of Arizona’s craft beer scene. The transformation into Barrio Brewing Co. in 2008 marked a significant evolution, with the Barrio Blonde beer leading their impressive lineup.
Barrio Brewing Co.’s menu reflects its brewing heritage and culinary creativity. Signature dishes such as Bavarian beer sponges – fluffy pretzels served with a hearty beer mustard and cheese sauce – showcase the brewery’s connective approach to food. The Barrio brat, a house specialty, is a nod to traditional brewing culture, combining locally sourced bratwurst simmered in Barrio’s own Copperhead pale ale. Seafood lovers can indulge in the Baja fish tacos, featuring pan-seared cod topped with chipotle aioli, a nod to the brewery’s Southwestern roots.
Barrio Brewing Co.’s burger selection stands out as a delight for burger fans. Their cheeseburger, a classic, allows diners to personalize with a variety of cheeses including Monterey jack, cheddar, American, Swiss, provolone, or pepper jack. For a touch of local flavor, the Southwestern burger is a must-try, featuring a roasted Hatch green chili and pepper jack cheese, all enhanced by a hint of avocado tomatillo sauce. The fire starter burger is a daring choice, loaded with thick-cut jalapeño bacon and fresh grilled jalapeños, perfect for those who enjoy a spicy kick. A standout option is the Diane burger, topped with buttery sautéed mushrooms and onions, simmered in a rich red wine sauce, and finished with melted Swiss cheese. Each burger is paired with crispy French fries.
The brewery’s commitment to quality extends to its craft beer selection. Beyond the flagship Barrio Blonde, patrons can enjoy a range of seasonal and specialty brews, each crafted to pair perfectly with the menu’s diverse offerings.
Kind Hospitality has been a significant player in Arizona’s dining scene since 1996. With a portfolio that includes several well-known brands including Macayo’s Mexican Food, O.H.S.O., and others, the company is known for its focus on quality dining experiences. The launch of Barrio Brewing Co. at Deer Valley Airport is in line with Kind Hospitality’s ethos of innovation in the dining space.
