Tucked away in the heart of Sun City West, Briarwood Country Club has been a beloved institution for golf enthusiasts since its inception in 1979. This picturesque club has undergone significant transformations over the years, and its latest ownership change marks an exciting new chapter in its storied history.

Briarwood was founded by the Del Webb Corporation, pioneers in retirement community developments. The club was designed to provide a luxurious recreational experience for the residents of Sun City West, with a focus on golf, social events, and fine dining. The club’s 18-hole championship golf course, crafted by renowned architect Greg Nash, gained a reputation for its challenging layout and breathtaking desert landscapes.

Throughout its 45 year life, Briarwood has evolved to meet the changing needs of its members and the surrounding community. In the 1990s, the club underwent significant renovations, including the addition of new amenities such as tennis courts, a fitness center, and an expanded clubhouse. These enhancements solidified Briarwood’s position as a premier country club for the West Valley.

Recently, Briarwood Country Club changed hands, welcoming a new ownership group led by the seasoned golf industry professionals at Swing First Golf Management. Based right here in the valley, Swing First Golf is owned and operated by Jeff Lundgren and David Ashton. This transition brings fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the club, ensuring its continued relevance and appeal in the Valley’s golf landscape.

As part of this change, former Banquet Manager, Adam Glynn, has been hired as the new Food and Beverage Banquet Director. Glynn is excited for the new opportunity this position brings, including bringing fresh new menu items, food and drink specials, and the introduction of tasting events.
