British Entrepreneurs Bring A Taste of the U.K. to North Scottsdale
A group of British entrepreneurs have brought a taste of home to North Scottsdale after purchasing and transforming a well-established pub. Sukhi Ghuman, CEO and Group Chairman of the Octavian group of companies, has made his name in the worlds of facilities management and healthcare over the years. But now he, along with three other British business associates, is turning his hand to the hospitality industry after snapping up the Skeptical Chymist. Sukhi and the team of Kevin Johnston, Suky Khangura and Manjinder Singh have transformed the Irish bar into a traditional British pub. The new name of the pub is The Union Jack and it is located at 15689 N. Hayden Road, Ste. L125. “We are bringing some authentic British comfort food for the people of Scottsdale to sample at The Union Jack,” Sukhi says. “That means bangers and mash, a full English breakfast and beans on toast – all great favorites back home. We are open all day and will continue to welcome sports fans to the pub.” The Skeptical Chymist had been home to the Arizona chapter of the Seattle Seahawks Booster Club, and Sukhi says they’ll be made to feel more than welcome at The Union Jack. “My main passion is soccer – I’m a huge Everton fan – and The Union Jack includes a Premier League lounge where live games will be streamed alongside U.S. sports – it should make for a fantastic atmosphere!” The Union Jack just opened late last month.
