HI, MY NAME IS… Rich Sullivan.
I’VE LIVED IN ARCADIA FOR 32 YEARS AND I LOVE IT BECAUSE… it is beautiful and central to everywhere in the Valley. Scottsdale, Biltmore, Tempe, and downtown Phoenix are all easily in reach. The airport is conveniently located just down the street, providing easy access for travel requirements. Coupled with the freeway system, it truly serves as the heart of the Valley.
A TYPICAL DAY IN MY LIFE INCLUDES… getting organized each morning, having a productive workday, exercising when possible, and having a nice meal to wind down in the evenings.
MY FAMILY IS… mostly in the New England area, but also expands into Nashville, Tennessee, and Keller, Texas. My children all live here in the Valley.
ONE THING I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IS… welcoming the day with a rich, strong cup of coffee. It’s a habit I happily rely on to jump-start my mornings.
MY FAVORITE MOVIE I COULD NEVER GET TIRED OF WATCHING AND WHY IS… “Casablanca.” It has it all – beauty, love, intrigue, suspense, humor, and a nationalistic pride that speaks to protecting freedoms everywhere.
WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WANTED TO BE… an attorney, but got caught up in hospitality. I loved cooking and the rewards of taking part in an intense team-driven mission.
THE SONG I WOULD SING AT KARAOKE NIGHT IS… “Walking in Memphis” by Marc Cohen because it is soulful, spiritual, and has a nice melody.
THE PEOPLE WHO MOTVITATE ME ARE… my children.
THE LAST THING THAT MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD WAS… listening to David Spade and Dana Carvey. They are quick, insightful, and just plain fun.
THE PERFECT DAY FOR ME… starts with the morning ritual of sipping a cup of coffee. Next, I’d hop on my bike and take a peaceful ride along the canal, followed by a hearty breakfast at Matt’s. If the weather is good, a walk around Scottsdale Mall makes for the perfect mid-day activity. As evening approaches, I cap off the day with a delicious dinner at one of our local restaurants, paired with a full-bodied glass of red wine. With so many choices on offer, the restaurant is always a fun pick depending on my cravings for the day.
MY FAVORITE LOCAL NONPROFIT IS… the 100 Club of Arizona. I cannot think of a better way to give than to give to those who give us everything.
MY LIFE IS… about learning and growing, paying attention to the little things, teaching all around me, and explaining the “why” to help understanding.
THE BEST GIFT I’VE EVER RECEIVED WAS… a Honda 70 minibike when I was a kid. It was the biggest surprise I never saw coming and still makes me smile.
MY DREAM VACATION WOULD BE… a couple of days dining in New York City, then off to Nantucket to smell the ocean air, and feel the cools breezes.
THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED IS… be the calming force in the middle of a storm.
