HI, MY NAME IS… Olivia Fierro.
I LIVE IN SCOTTSDALE AND I LOVE IT BECAUSE… it is a vacation destination with gorgeous views, activities, incredible luxury resorts, and fantastic restaurants. And, it is a city full of neighborhood communities that are idyllic for families (I’ve never actually lived anywhere else where I knew my neighbors!). Bonus: there are a high number of soccer fields nearby, which means we usually don’t have to drive more than a few minutes to take our son to practice.
A TYPICAL DAY IN MY LIFE INCLUDES… this is a tricky one. After just transitioning out of television news, I’m still figuring out what each day will look like. The certainty: no more 3:15 a.m. alarm clock. The goal: days that are still full of learning new things, meeting interesting people, collaborating on new endeavors, and feeling more in command of my own time and priorities, nurturing my creative and entrepreneurial sides. Some days may involve events, meetings, social media, or travel for Tequila Corrido, which is headquartered in Scottsdale (visit ilovetequilacorrido.com to find out more about the brand and where to find it) or dedicating time to other projects. The best parts: time with my son, Nate, and my husband, Tony, and our goldendoodle, Prince. Most days start with Wordle, the NYT Spelling Bee game, and include a book (audio, Kindle, or the real deal) and at least a little Bravo. I try to squeeze in a yoga class too, if not something off the Peloton app.
MY FAMILY IS… fun and weird and absolutely meant for me.
ONE THING I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IS… yoga. We are lucky to have so many great studios in town. My favorite in Scottsdale is Modern Yoga. When I don’t make time for it, everything feels off and I’m not at my best.
MY FAVORITE MOVIE I COULD NEVER GET TIRED OF WATCHING AND WHY IS… I will never change the channel if “Selena” or “Couples Retreat” is on. I also have no limit on the number of times I will rewatch “Hamilton” on Disney+.
WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WANTED TO BE… a supreme court justice, a ballerina, and a soap opera star.
THE SONG I WOULD SING AT KARAOKE IS… nothing, I’m usually too embarrassed!
THE LAST THING THAT MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD WAS… the last time (and every time) I get together with my girlfriends. That ridiculous laughter is the secret sauce to a good life.
THE PERFECT DAY IS… time to read in bed, a sweaty yoga class, pool day at home with my family, and maybe a little shopping squeezed in.
MY FAVORITE LOCAL NONPROFIT IS… we have so many great organizations in the Valley. No Kid Hungry, Valley of the Sun United Way, CPLC, there are so many generous hearts and smart leaders here.
MY LIFE IS… always a work in progress, and still getting better.
THE BEST GIFT I’VE EVER RECEIVED IS… it’s a tie between these two: a pink inflatable flamingo pool float that makes me smile every time I look at it, and a right-hand ring that was a total surprise. Both of those gifts were from my husband.
MY DREAM VACATION … ohh, I’ve been lucky to have some amazing ones already that I still dream about, like Bora Bora, Lake Como, Mallorca. I’m always hoping the dreamiest trips are still ahead!
THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED IS… trust yourself, and remember you are brave.
