Hi, my name is… Kristen Shroyer, co-founder of ONEHOPE Wine.
I’ve lived in Scottsdale my whole life and I love it because… The incredible weather, magical sunsets, and that it’s home to so many of my friends and family.
A typical day in my life includes… I always start my day with an early morning Orangetheory workout. Then I hop right into work with Zoom meetings nearly all day, often into the night, with my incredible ONEHOPE Wine team. My evenings are a mix of homework help, carpooling to sports practices, trying to get dinner on the table, and hopefully having enough time to enjoy a TV show with my husband before bed. Of course, I also try to enjoy a glass of wine (or two!) before bed.
My family is… My incredibly supportive husband, Brad, and our two daughters, Jessica (9) and Allie (7).
One thing I cannot live without is… My family. They are the light of my life.
My favorite movie I could never get tired of watching and why… “The Greatest Showman.” I love everything about it – from the phenomenal music to its message of pursing your wildest dreams and being confident in your own skin.
When I was younger, I wanted to be… A news anchor. At Chaparral High School, I anchored “The Firebird Word” with my best friend and we had so much fun.
The song I would sing at Karaoke night is… “The Time of My Life” from Dirty Dancing, but I’d need a partner for the duet and for the famous lift!
The people who motivate me the most are… My daughters. They motivate me to be my best self every day.
The last thing that made me laugh out loud was… My daughter’s Girl Scout cookie pitch video. Last year, she went viral – from “People” magazine to “Good Morning America” – for her socially distanced Girl Scout cookie sales in the Valley. This year, she made a music video parody about all the cookies she has for sale to the tune of the “Fancy Like…” country song.
The perfect day would be… Just being outdoors and enjoying all that Scottsdale has to offer with my family! It would include a morning hike, afternoon by the pool, bike ride to our favorite local restaurant, and a glass of wine.
My favorite local nonprofit is… It’s hard to choose just one. I serve on the board of the Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) Foundation, working with partners to support our local school district to ensure all students achieve educational excellence. As an SUSD alumna, with children in SUSD, and family members employed by SUSD, it’s a cause that’s near and dear to my heart. In addition, through ONEHOPE Foundation, which I co-founded, we’ve made $7.5 million in donations to Valley nonprofits over the past 14 years. We also launched a direct-to-consumer program where anyone can host a ONEHOPE wine tasting to help fundraise for a nonprofit of choice, and we have a wine club where you can have our winemaker curate wines for you, or you can pick and choose yourself.
My life is… Crazy, chaotic, and stressful many days, but also exciting and so much fun. I wouldn’t change a thing.
The best gift I’ve ever received was… An engagement ring from my husband.
My dream vacation would be… Anywhere on a warm and sunny beach, without a cell phone.
The best piece of advice I’ve ever received… Work hard and be kind to others. My dad, who is also a Scottsdale native, always taught me that. He is the hardest working and kindest person I have ever known.
