HI, MY NAME IS… Kendra Kaplan
I’VE LIVED IN SCOTTSDALE FOR THE LAST 42 YEARS AND I LOVE IT BECAUSE … I hate being cold! As a native, the heat does not bother me. We have endless restaurants, great shopping, beautiful deserts…what’s not to love?
A TYPICAL DAY IN MY LIFE INCLUDES… multiple school drops-offs, running errands and maintaining a busy household with four kids, meeting with The Driver Provider clients and employees, picking up kids from school, getting everyone to/from their after-school activities, helping with homework, sitting down for family dinner and preparing for the next day.
MY FAMILY IS… busy! Our kids are 14, 12, 7 and 6. We’re running in a million directions, and it doesn’t always feel like we can keep up but we wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.
ONE THING I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IS… my Outlook calendar. Seriously, I need it for my sanity!
MY FAVORITE MOVIE I COULD NEVER GET TIRED OF WATCHING AND WHY… “The Blind Side” because it is such a great reminder of all the goodness in this world.
WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WANTED TO BE… a nurse. I even got my nursing degree and license, but I never practiced.
THE SONG I WOULD SING AT KARAOKE NIGHT IS… “Loverman” by Train. It’s on our carpool playlist and we sing it at high volume with our kids.
THE ONE PERSON WHO MOTIVATES ME IS… author Brené Brown. Her work on vulnerability and authenticity is inspiring.
THE LAST THING THAT MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD WAS… our two youngest sons playing make believe, completely lost in their own little world.
THE PERFECT DAY IS… a sunny day at the beach, of course!
MY FAVORITE LOCAL NONPROFIT IS… the Valley of the Sun JCC (Jewish Community Center). Between working out in the gym, playing pickleball, attending summer camps, joining the basketball league or just grabbing a cup of coffee, it feels like we are ALWAYS there. It is such an amazing part of our community.
MY LIFE IS… a gift. After surviving a massive stroke in 2022, I do not take a single day for granted.
THE BEST GIFT I’VE EVER RECEIVED WAS… our youngest son, who was born happy and healthy after months of bedrest.
MY DREAM VACATION WOULD BE… returning to the coast of Barcelona, Spain.
THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED IS… to allow yourself to take risks and make mistakes. You can always change the course you’re on if you do not like the outcome.
