HI, MY NAME IS… Destry Jetton
I’VE LIVED IN PEORIA FOR SIX YEARS AND IN ARIZONA FOR 20-PLUS YEARS AND I LOVE IT BECAUSE… there’s always something to do! There’s hiking and biking and Lake Pleasant is a short drive away. There are also great new stores and restaurants opening up that I love to explore.
A TYPICAL DAY IN MY LIFE INCLUDES… work and kids! I worked for 16 years as the host of Arizona Midday on Channel 12, and now I’m VP of communications for 72SOLD. I’m so lucky that I’ve been able to work with so many different businesses, entrepreneurs, chefs…you name it! I’ve done interviews with people around the Valley and in Peoria and I love learning about all of them. It’s exciting to start a new job.
After work, I’m usually attending one of my children’s sporting events!
MY FAMILY IS… I have two children. Hayden is 17 and is in football and track. Blythe is 14 and plays soccer and beach volleyball.
ONE THING I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IS… a bath. I love daily soaks.
WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WANTED TO BE… a teacher! I have two degrees, one in broadcast journalism and the other in elementary education. I still have time!
THE ONE PERSON WHO MOTIVATES ME… is my twin sister Cheyana. She was a teacher, a vice principal, and a principal in the Valley for years. Now, she’s a consultant. She works harder than almost anyone I know (except maybe my boss Greg Hague!) She also cares deeply about her job and helping others. Something to look up to!
THE LAST THING THAT MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD WAS… my son. He makes fun of everything I do. I want to get mad, but he’s funny.
MY PERFECT DAY INCLUDES… brunch with friends, reading a great book, ending with fun with family.
MY FAVORITE LOCAL NONPROFIT IS… too many! I’ve worked with Phoenix Children’s Hospital, United Food Bank, HopeKids, AAWL, MASK…We have a lot of wonderful organizations in Arizona.
MY LIFE IS… full of adventure.
MY DREAM VACATION WOULD BE… we’re on a mission to take the kids to see all 50 states before they turn 18! We’ve been to 31, so we need to hurry!
THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED WAS… stay positive and work hard. That’s how to succeed.
