Cross Functional Design and Web Essentials
Students looking for a fulfilling and creative career that puts their artistic skills to the test now have a new opportunity with the Cross Functional Design and Web Essentials Certificate of Completion program. This new interdisciplinary program provides students with foundational skills across media and marketing through a unique approach to graphic design and web design that emphasizes practical skills.
In today’s world, graphic design, marketing, and web design intersect daily. Both current industry professionals and students seeking a job in communications must know how each area affects and interacts with the others. With the transition of traditional advertising and marketing strategies to digital spaces dominated by social media, there are unique opportunities for professionals who can develop marketing strategies and apply their skills to create the graphics and collateral needed to implement those strategies.
Coursework includes graphic design principles like color theory and creative design, web foundational languages like HTML and CSS used for building webpages, Adobe Creative Suite programs like Photoshop and Illustrator for digital image manipulation, and social media strategies for marketing.
Securities Industry Essentials
The Valley of the Sun has become a regional hub for financial services. As Arizona’s economy continues to experience significant growth and attract industries to the Valley, the need for a talent-ready pipeline becomes more evident. Financial services include a variety of businesses that provide management of money from traditional banks or credit unions to insurance, wealth management, stock brokerage, or investment companies, etc. These occupations can offer stability, competitive starting pay, and abundant opportunities for advancement, making it a sought-after field for aspiring professionals.
Designed to meet the increasing demand for skilled professionals in the financial sector, two Securities Industry Essentials programs aim to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of financial services and the fundamental principles required for success in this thriving industry.
The Securities Industry Essentials certificate of completion is a 16-credit offering that combines a variety of business classes to help students with little-to-no work experience and/or higher education successfully enter the financial services industry. The Securities Industry Essentials: Prelicensure is a 4-credit micro-certification and is best for students that already have significant real-world experience and/or a degree (whether it’s business-related or not).
Yoga Instruction
The new Certificate of Completion in Yoga Instruction gives yogis from across the Valley a chance to turn their passion into a career in just two semesters.
Through a partnership with Yoga Alliance, SCC’s Yoga Instruction program is a Registered Yoga School that offers a unique, high-quality education by skilled instructors set in a well-appointed facility. Students will be prepared to learn everything it takes to become a qualified yoga instructor from a curriculum that provides a foundation in yoga’s theory, tradition, and practice.
The coursework covers the principles of anatomy and biomechanics applied to yoga, instructional methodology in the art and science of teaching yoga asanas, and practical teaching experience. In addition, training prepares students to teach any yoga philosophy by learning the key areas of yoga instruction, such as principles of the breath, meditation, postural sequencing, observation, verbal and physical adjustments, use of voice, and organization of course curriculum.
After completing the program, graduates receive their certificate for completing a Hatha Yoga teacher training program, which they can use to register with Yoga Alliance as a 200-RYT (200 hours of training as a registered yoga teacher) – the industry standard to begin a career as a yoga instructor.
So, whether you’re a student ready to begin your career or an established professional looking to explore something new, SCC has an educational pathway for you.
