Summer is here, which Michael O’Donnell, vice president of sales and co-owner at Sunsolar Solutions, affectionately calls, “Solar Season.” With an average of 300 days of sunshine a year though, Valley residents are switching to solar energy this summer and all year-round. This is evident in the continued growth of the locally owned solar power company.
Since its start in 2015, Sunsolar Solutions has helped over 8,300 homeowners go solar across the state and hired more than 115 local employees (not including local contractors!).
“We are proud to have brought more than 100 new green jobs to the Valley,” says Val Berechet, president of Sunsolar Solutions. “We are right here, in your backyard. We are a homegrown company that has been doing business in the Valley—and growing—for seven years.”
In addition to Berechet and O’Donnell, Sunsolar Solutions is also lead by Troy Dinbokowitz.
Solar energy works by capturing the sun’s energy and turning it into electricity through solar panels. With hundreds of sunny days each year, the Valley of the Sun is literally the perfect place for those considering supplementing some of their energy usage with solar power.
“Our innovative solar solutions and technology works to power your entire home with clean, renewable energy – all from just the sun,” according to the company. “With each solar panel, you’ll be combatting greenhouse gas emissions and reducing your fossil fuel dependency while saving up to 95 percent on your electricity bill… By investing in a solar system today, you’ll be cultivating a brighter tomorrow.”
“We have a deep understanding of the local market and local utilities,” Berechet explains. “We are an experienced local company and take care of everything from start to finish.”
Some benefits of going solar with Sunsolar Solutions include:
• Increase your property value.
• No upfront costs.
• Customers can save up to 95% off of their electric bill.
• Protection against inflation and energy cost increases from the electric company.
• Increasing the property value.
• Earning a great return on your investment.
• Going green.
• Providing clean, reliable energy.
By helping thousands of Arizona households switch to solar energy, Berechet shares how Sunsolar Solutions is making an impressive green impact on the environment. “The latest statistics show that, so far, we’ve helped to reduce an estimated 6.8 million tons of CO2 emissions. This reduction is the equivalent of 16.2 million trees planted. We’ve also helped to save 170.4 million gallons of water and counting!”
“Doing business right and providing quality customer experience—plus referrals and good online reviews—has paid dividends in how much we’ve grown,” Berechet explains. “It’s led to more customers and, thanks to their business, more employees.”
Because of their impressive growth, Sunsolar Solutions moved into a 19,000 square foot installation center and a 2,500 square foot sales space just last year, adding to the 3,000 square foot administrative office they occupied prior.
What makes Sunsolar Solutions stand out among other solar companies that locals could work with? O’Donnell shares that it has to do with how their company provides quality service and transparency, ensuring the customer has the correct expectations.
“Eighty percent of solar companies don’t actually install the solar panels that they sell you,” he explains. “We do it all—sales and installation. We also always provide the total cost to customers so they know what to expect. And, if we can, we provide multiple design options for them to choose from, so they can pick which one works best for their budget. Of course, our goal is always to get their electric bill down to zero.”
“Because we are local and hands-on, we can handle every aspect of installation and walk the customer through the entire process,” O’Donnell continues.
Sunsolar Solutions’ goal, even if they don’t make a sale, is to educate customers and those interested in solar. They always provide their sales reps with ongoing education and the tools they need to make an honest sale and provide all the facts when meeting potential solar panel owners.
“This is a great company to work with,” says Teresa R., a Sunsolar customer. “I had another family member buy from another company more than a month before me and they’re still waiting. Mine is completed and running.”
“I had Sunsolar Solutions do my solar install and it has been awesome,” says Curtis, another recent customer. “They did extremely good work and kept me up to date as to what was going on all along the way. They even ensured everything was painted to match!”
“Sunsolar Solutions doesn’t just come out once, install panels, and leave,” O’Donnell shares. “When you work with us, not only do we do everything, but it’s the beginning of a 25-year relationship. We provide assurance, maintenance, warranties, and can always come to help in-person as we’re local.”
For those who are interested in investing in solar power, Sunsolar Solutions’ team shares that now is the time. O’Donnell explains that there is a deadline for APS customers to switch to solar to still be grandfathered into their current solar buyback program—which is going down 10 percent, meaning less energy savings for solar power customers. But those who act before the August 31 deadline will be able to be grandfathered in to the current program.
Whether a new customer signs up this summer or another time, the Sunsolar team shares that they are grateful for their continued growth. “We’re doing well because we’re doing good for the community and the environment,” Berechet says. “We are excited for today and what the future holds.”
“Thanks to community support and our success, we’ve really made an impact on both the economy and environment,” O’Donnell says. “Every solar system that we install really moves the needle in the right direction for saving money for that family but also a positive impact on the economy and environment.”
