As summer approaches and temperatures rise, residents in Maricopa County are encouraged to ensure their home’s AC units are ready for the heat.
Fortunately, for homeowners who meet income qualifications, Maricopa County’s Human Services Department is offering emergency home repair services to address concerns related to health, safety, and energy efficiency.
The Housing and Community Development Division provides home weatherization and rehabilitation services to eligible residents in selected Maricopa County communities. Importantly, the division does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, national origin, familial status, sex, disability, or age. Program availability is subject to funding.
To apply for home repair, weatherization, or rehabilitation services, homeowners must meet the following eligibility criteria:
1. The home must be located in Maricopa County.
2. The household’s total annual income must be at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
Interested applicants can begin the process by completing an online application at https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/6403610/emergency-home-repair. The Human Services Department will contact applicants within 14 business days to discuss next steps.
Potential documentation required includes, but is not limited to:
• Photo identification of the applicant
• Proof of homeownership or landlord agreement
• Client Agreement Form
Note that additional documentation may be requested to determine eligibility. Limited funding is available for the Emergency Home Repair Program, and assistance is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to the high demand, applicants may experience delays in email responses or scheduling appointments. The county appreciates the understanding and patience of applicants during this process.
