Mountain Ridge High School staff are gearing up to face an unexpected opponent on the basketball court — the Glendale Police Department. Set for Friday, Oct. 13, at 11:30 a.m., this isn’t just any ordinary basketball game. The event aims to raise funds for the Arizona Special Olympics, showcasing the spirit of partnership and community between local schools and law enforcement.
But the surprises don’t stop there! The Phoenix Suns’ very own mascot, the Gorilla, is scheduled to make an appearance, adding a dose of NBA flair to the event. And for one Special Olympic basketball player and devout Suns fan from Mountain Ridge High, the Gorilla has some special surprises in store.
This collaborative event serves not just as a fundraiser, but as a symbol of the community’s commitment to supporting the Special Olympics and fostering bonds between institutions. With the promise of thrilling basketball action and heartwarming moments, it’s a game you won’t want to miss!
Mountain Ridge High School is located at 22800 N. 67th Ave., in Glendale. For more information, visit dvusd.org/mrhs.
