Residents Wanted for Boards and Commissions
The City of Peoria is seeking volunteers to fill vacancies on various boards and commissions, such as the Building Board of Appeals, Municipal Development Authority and the Veterans Memorial Board. Board and commission members review policies, plans, and projects and make recommendations to the Peoria City Council. Visit Native American Art Exhibit Starting Now
Check out the new Native American art exhibit on display at the West Valley Art Museum (WVAM) Gallery that includes lithographs, paintings, drawings, mixed media, etchings and other techniques by artists such as Harrison Begay, Robert Redbird Sr., Amado Pena and Norma Andraud. The exhibit features artists with heritage in more than a dozen Native American tribes across our vast land. The works will be on view through November 21st. Survey for Peoria’s Trail System
Help decide the future of Peoria’s trail system. Your input is vitally important. Your feedback will help determine trail priorities for the state and help guide the distribution of state funds in the 2020 Arizona Trails Plan. GOVERNING BOARD TO CONDUCT SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH
With Superintendent, Mrs. Linda Palles Thompson’s intent to retire at the end of this school year, the Peoria Unified Governing Board has contracted with McPherson & Jacobson, LLC, a third-party search firm, to conduct a search to fill this vacancy. As part of the process, applicants can apply through Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019 at https://macnjake.tedk12.com/hire/index.aspx.

The Board is expected to review and select finalists by the beginning of December. Interviews will be conducted, and a selection may take place prior to the start of 2020. The new superintendent is expected to begin July 1, 2020. A more detailed timeline will soon be available, including how community feedback will be integrated into the process.
