Local writer Jennifer Marshall recently released her first published book, Christmas Cookies on a Cruise Ship. It’s being published under her pen name Parker Fairchild. The 286-page novel is a fun romantic comedy.
Marshall shares the premise of the book:
“Chemist and budding romance writer Olivia Chasen is on a cruise to avoid spending Christmas with her beautiful twin sister and new fiancé—Olivia’s ex. Now, thanks to her lonely, intoxicated ramblings on Santa’s lap, her fellow passengers think she’s in love with a fictional character.
Former Navy SEAL Commander Jace Morse has dealt with plenty of unusual situations in his career, but he’s never had the honor, the pleasure, or the privilege of being a beautiful and intelligent woman’s fantasy hero come to life. While he hasn’t officially met the sexy chemist, he’s sure eager to explore the chemistry that’s sizzling between them .

Marshall shares that she has always enjoyed writing, and over the years, she’s accumulated several novels in all stages of completion on her computer. In fact, she wrote the outline for Christmas Cookies on a cruise ship while on a Christmas holiday cruise in the Caribbean. Upon returning home, the outline was put aside and, later, just filed away. During the COVID-19 quarantine, she pulled out her outline and decided it was a good time to finish the story.
Her mom, Jean, had just finished a book and was curious about the author. Looking her up, she discovered the author was not only a writer but she also was a publisher. Jean noticed, too, that they were looking for Christmas fiction submissions, and she called Jennifer immediately. Jennifer finished the book and submitted the first three chapters. In about a week, the publisher requested the full manuscript, and, well, the rest is history.
