The 20th edition of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon, scheduled for January 13 and 14, is a highly anticipated event in the cities of Tempe, Scottsdale, and Phoenix.
This annual celebration, marking two decades of existence, promises a blend of fitness, entertainment, and scenic beauty. Participants will traverse through the picturesque landscapes of Arizona, including the red sandstone formations of Papago Park, culminating in a grand Finish Line Festival at Tempe Beach Park.
Offering a variety of courses – a half marathon, a 10K, a 5K, and the Kids Rock race – the event caters to all levels of runners. Each course provides a unique opportunity to experience the vibrant local atmosphere and breathtaking views of Arizona. The 2024 Encore Entertainment lineup enhances this experience with performances by BETAMAXX and Twisted Gypsy, offering an authentic ‘80s live music experience and celebrating the music of Fleetwood Mac, respectively.
The event schedule includes the 5K race and entertainment starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the Kids Rock race at 10 a.m. Sunday’s schedule begins with the 10K and half marathon races at 7:15 a.m., featuring DJ Cable and performances from Twisted Gypsy and BETAMAXX.
In addition to the races, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona event will host a two-day Health & Fitness Expo at the Phoenix Convention Center on January 12 and 13. The expo, open to the public free of charge, offers the latest in running technologies, fitness apparel, and health and nutrition information.
New in 2024: Volunteer Opportunities and More
This year, the marathon introduces exciting volunteer opportunities, allowing individuals to contribute to the event’s success while being part of the community. Volunteers play a crucial role in various aspects of the event, from assisting in the Health & Fitness Expo to providing support along the race courses.
A new feature of the 2024 marathon is the opportunity to run for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Participants can sign up to support St. Jude in their fight against childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Runners who choose this option can help raise funds and awareness for this noble cause, adding a layer of purpose to their marathon experience.
Understanding the diverse needs of participants, the marathon offers several registration options. These include individual entries, group registrations, and corporate team entries. The event also provides customizable packages for those looking to combine their race experience with a mini-vacation, offering deals on local accommodations and attractions.
Whether you’re a seasoned runner, a music enthusiast, a volunteer, or a supporter of St. Jude, the 20th edition of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon promises an unforgettable experience.
