After 55 years as Scottsdale’s civic pulse and signature gathering spot, the Scottsdale Civic Center is embracing a fresh start. With its comprehensive remodel completed, the city invites residents and visitors to “Fall in Love with Scottsdale Civic Center” all over again.
The landmark’s rejuvenation, initiated in October 2021, culminated in a dynamic space that not only addresses prior structural and electrical issues but also radiates new allure with its advanced features. The $33.5 million transformation, primarily funded through bonds greenlit by Scottsdale voters in 2019, enhances its position as a go-to venue for significant events.
“We are absolutely thrilled to officially relaunch Scottsdale Civic Center, the original epicenter of Scottsdale’s arts culture, hospitality, community spirit and unique Western reputation,” says Scottsdale Mayor David Ortega. “Going way beyond renovation, we can now enjoy three new outdoor stages, kid-friendly play areas, botanical exhibits, 140 new shade trees, and water conservation turf areas. We invite everyone to celebrate with us.”
The Fall in Love with Scottsdale Civic Center events run from October 3 through November 22, packing in over 70 activities spread across the Civic Center and broader Old Town. The festivities kick off with a WILCO concert on October 3.
A series of events during this period, organized in tandem with local businesses and groups, celebrates both Scottsdale’s heritage and its future. Highlights include the 50th anniversary of “Windows to the West” artwork, the unveiling of “The Desert’s Garden,” Veterans Day commemorations, and a special Dog’s Day Out event – an ode to Scottsdale’s furry community.
Whether residents seek art, entertainment, or community connection, the Civic Center aims to be Scottsdale’s heart once again. For a full roster of events and details about Fall in Love with Scottsdale Civic Center, visit oldtownscottsdaleaz.com/fallinlove.
