Do you know a local teen or young adult interested in a career in law enforcement? The Peoria Police Department’s Explorer Program may be perfect for them!
Since 1995, the Peoria Police Department has been the proud home of Explorer Post #2999. The Explorer Program is for youth and young adults ages 14 to 20 years old who are interested in a law enforcement career. Explorers learn about law enforcement in hands-on, scenario-based training that allows them to see if a career is the field is right for them.
As part of the program, Explorers meet at the police department for three hours twice a month for training and events. Training not only consists of hands-on learning, but also physical conditioning. They are also required to participate in community service events with the goal to have every member serve 100 hours per year.
Ultimately, the Explorer Advisor staff is committed to ensuring the youth in the program leave as ethical, well-educated citizens, and ready to face any challenge regardless of their career choice.
