A wildlife assembly at Mercury Mine Elementary School recently brought together students, teachers, and some special feathered friends for an educational experience. The assembly featured a presentation by Liberty Wildlife volunteer, former Mercury Mine student, and current Mercury Mine teacher, Ms. Annika Jeras, who introduced the young learners to Cassidy the Swainson’s hawk. Students also had the opportunity to meet Snickers, the great horned owl, and learn about the impressive birds of prey.
“I got to present to my own class, and we all got a picture together with Cassidy!” said Ms. Jeras. “A wildlife organization came to Mercury Mine when I was a student there, which sparked my interest in birds of prey and ultimately led me to volunteer at Liberty Wildlife. So, it was extra special to me, as it felt like a very ‘full-circle’ moment!”
PVSchools is proud to have Ms. Jeras as part of our team! She is just one example of the many PVSchools alumni who choose to return to the district and build their careers in Paradise.
