Emma Burns tells us that the Winfield pickleball courts officially opened for play Sunday, March 10 at 2 p.m. with over 30 residents enjoying their new amenity on the two recently completed courts. Construction began in early January after the community voted to add the two courts adjacent to tennis court one. Over 60 residents already belong to the newly formed Pickleball Club. Winfield tennis and pickleball pro Chris Cummings offers lessons to beginners and intermediate players. The new courts are open only to Winfield residents every weekday morning from 9 a.m. to noon and with online reservations for all other daylight hours. Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. are reserved for weekly socials. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 6 at 10 a.m. followed by lunch in the community’s Cafe. As a reminder, while Winfield does allow outside memberships for tennis, the pickleball facilities are for residents only.
